For more than a decade, Panama has celebrated Good Deeds Day (DBA), a great celebration of solidarity that takes place in 115 countries, with more than four million volunteers participating around the world.

In Panama, thousands of sensitized Panamanians took the initiative to help those who need it most, on April 6, the date chosen for Good Deeds Day in Panama 2025, with the launch of the campaign “A good action = a better world”, said Eva Bettsak, National Coordinator of DBA 2025.

The Day of Good Deeds was born in Israel in 2007 at the initiative of businesswoman and philanthropist Shari Arison, and today it is a global event that unites millions of people, organizations and companies with the collective idea of taking positive action for the benefit of others and the planet.

In Panama, it is achieved thanks to the union of the Panamanian-Jewish Foundation (JUPÁ), B'nai B'rith from Panama and Volunteers from Panama with their platform ”Put yourself in something”.

In 2024, 115 countries participated, carrying out 23,000 projects with around 4.5 million volunteers from different companies, non-governmental organizations, educational and government institutions. And in Panama, more than 11,000 volunteers participated in the DBA, performing more than 700 Good Deeds.

It should be noted that this activity has been organized in Panama since 2015. Year after year, the DBA grows both in quantity and quality of projects, incorporating new volunteers, organizations and companies.

This day has great recognition and presence throughout the territory and this allows us to achieve great and important alliances with the private and public sectors.

The criteria for defining good deeds are very broad and include individual and collective actions such as donating clothes, donating blood, promoting recycling, donating or packing food, adopting an animal, contributing to the reforestation or cleaning of beaches, improving or conditioning a public park or recreational area, collecting and donating books, providing academic tutoring, among others.
